20 Hairstyles for Women with Big Foreheads to Try in 2025
I’m a hairstylist and so many women come to me with low self-esteem about their forehead. The reality is, having a broad forehead isn’t an “issue”—it’s a trait that can actually serve to give your face character.
But I also get that need for balance. That’s when the perfect haircut and styling tricks can really come in handy.
The big trends in 2025 : are soft layers, natural textures, and bangs that aren’t too heavy look all perfect for women who want to showcase forehead while looking up-to-date.
Hairstyles With Bangs: The Instant Forehead Fix
When a person says they would like to decrease the appearance of their forehead, one type of fringe is the first thing I think of.
Bangs are an organic accessory, after all—they go with just about everything and have the power to instantly change your look.
They offer coverage but can also be shaped to frame the face in flattering ways.
What I like about bangs in 2025: They’re not just for those ’70s straight-across blunt styles anymore. We’re seeing more relaxed, layered options that move with the hair naturally.
Whether you’re into spirited, dramatic fringe or something a little more discreet, there’s a style of bangs for any face and personality.
1- Curtain Bangs
Curtain bangs are my most recommended style for large foreheads because they provide coverage without taking away from the openness.
These bangs are split down the middle (or a tiny bit off center) and gently fade away into longer layers. They do not fully cover the forehead, but they leave a spotty effect on them which makes your face looks small.
They’re currently very fashionable, too; often combined with wavy or layered hair for a stylish that’s-not-trying-too-hard look. Curtain bangs, I remind my clients, are makeup contouring for the hair.
2- Wispy Fringe
The wispy fringe is light, airy and soft — just right for women who don’t want a heavy bang across their forehead. Whereas a blunt bang holds no surprises, wispy bangs allow some skin to be flashed — which creates the appearance of something soft rather than sealed.
They’re simple to style, low-maintenance and can grow out without a hitch if you decide you hate them. I tend to recommend them to COH (client-on-hirer) who are newcomers to industry, wanting to dip their toes in the water.
They also look great with updos and ponytails for when you’re in the mood to change things up but don’t want to commit to such dramatic look.
3- Blunt Straight Bangs
If you like to make a find-my-bold-fashion statement, blunt straight bang is it. These bangs are full, straight across the forehead; they take away some of the vertical space and give the illusion of a shorter forehead.
I see them on Netflix clients who love edgy, fashion-forward haircuts and will generally rock something like this with a sleek lob or bob.
They do need some styling maintenance, but the results are well worth it if you’re after that striking, powerful look. A full bang also show off your eyes well, however bring the eye down to give a balanced shape.
4- Side-Swept Bangs
Side-swept bangs are classic for a reason—they look good on everyone. These, I often cut at an angle, shorter on one side and transitioning into longer sections.
This diagonal line fools the eye, shrinking forehead width and popping cheekbones. What’s great about side bangs is they can be also styled across your forehead for more coverage, or swept back to make a softer look.
They’re particularly flattering for rounder face shapes because they create angles and structure.
5- Choppy Textured Bangs
Choppy bangs are the kind of bangs that scream personality and texture. Instead of a blunt, one-length bang, the pieces are cut at different lengths for an undone feel.
They’re great for women looking to rock a relaxed, lived-in look that provides a measure of forehead coverage. I pair them a lot with shags, layered lobs or even pixies for that cool-girl vibe.
Choppy bangs are also forgiving — if you don’t feel like styling them, they still look deliberate with some natural texture or wave.
6- Pixie with Side Bangs
A pixie may be scary due to the hairline, however with its wispy short layers above your forehead you’ll erase that worry and rock one of the best hairstyles for big foreheads.
The side swept bangs take away the attention from the forehead skin while cropped layers accentuate cheeks and jawline. I like to style this with a little texture — loose and undone rather than super-polished.
It’s also super convenient for the busy woman and combines style with low maintenance. The trick is to ensure that these bangs are customized for your specific face shape in order to receive the most balanced result.
7- Asymmetrical Bob
An asymmetrical bob It’s a trendy, sexy look that inherently takes away some of the emphasis on your forehead. The difference in angle that is achieved by leaving one side a bit longer than the other brings your eye where you want it to go.
This cut is gorgeous blow-dried straight for a sleek and modern look, or with waves for something more relaxed.
I recommend it to clients who want something trendy and polished but aren’t willing to commit to bangs. It’s this asymmetry that does all the work to balance out the proportions of one half versus the other.
8- Layered Lob (Long Bob)
The lob is a hairstylist’s secret weapon: it flatters almost every face shape, and it adds the finishing touch to any style when you add layers.
Adding face-framing layers at cheekbone level can also produce symmetrical illusion, and takes the eye downward for women with bigger foreheads.
The length is also perfect — you can have it straight, wavy or curled. Here in 2025, there is a huge trend of textured lobs with face-framing layers and I think those look amazing on cuties that want to feel like the chic ladies they are.
9- Curly Bob with Bangs
This Curly Bob with Bangs is a head turner for women with natural curls. Curls themselves give enough volume and texture to even out a larger forehead.
Bangs—spiky or curly —add softness and a more youthful feel. I always tell my curly-haired clients not to be afraid of bangs; they are so beautiful when cut and styled correctly.
A curly bob cut with bangs is playful, edgy, and oh so befitting of 2025’s trend toward natural textures.
10- Shag Cut
The shag is back in a big way, and it’s also one of my top suggestions for how to offset a “bigger” forehead.
The shag’s chaotic layers and usually accompanying fringe breakup the forehead visually, while providing tons of movement. And it’s extremely versatile — you can wear it straight or tousled, curly or straight.
For a client who is seeking something bold, modern and full of personality I always recommend the shag. It’s easy to take care of but high impact, so it’s a win-win.
11- Face-Framing Layers
Face-framing layers are one of the easiest ways to add warmth to a high forehead. Cutting face-framing layers around the cheekbones and jaw line creates balance and movement that draws the eye down.
It’s a look that is perfect on straight, wavy or curly hair – so one of the most versatile options.
I tend to do this with a middle or off-center part, whichever looks best on the client’s face shape.
12- Beach Waves with Curtain Bangs
Beach waves give a cool-girl edge, and when you add curtain bangs to the mix, they are easily one of the most flattering styles to conceal a larger forehead.
The waves add some volume and texture, while full bangs help soften and frame the face. I suggest this style to my clients who seek the modern vibe but with an ease, and are polished enough for a professional environment.
It is also one of the simplest at-home looks using a curling wand or even through an overnight braid.
13- Straight with Side Part
Even a deep side part is a little thing that makes a big difference. You’ll part your hair to the side (the opposite to your natural or regular styling if you can manage it) and that, ladies, is how you instantly break up the straight line of a forehead without needing to reach for the Botox!
The straight hair makes this polished and sharp, but if you have wavy or curly hair you can make it work.
I recommend this to clients who want something low maintenance without committing to bangs or a new cut. It is one of the easiest tricks in hairstyling’s how-to guide, and here yet again it gets the job done.
14- Loose Curls with Middle Part
Soft waves add volume, buoyancy and width to offset a larger forehead. Curls When complemented with curls, a middle part makes the face appear more symmetrical and frames it nicely.
I think this look is particularly good for nighttime, for a night out or for photos because the curls draw emphasis to the eyes and cheeks.
It’s feminine, timeless and totally on trend for 2025 when natural, big curls are in a big way.
15- Feathered Layers
Feathered layers is a trend inspired by the 70s that’s come back with a vengeance. They’re cut to flick out gently, which adds movement and softness without bulk.
I suggest this style for clients who want long hair, but don’t it feel heavy or stagnant.
The backcombing and feathering combination keeps things fluffy without appearing stiff, and brings the focus away from the forehead for a more refined aesthetic.
It’s a great option for women who are looking for a blast from the past with a modern update.
16- Messy Bun with Tendrils
A messy bun is one of my go-to suggestions since it’s simple, stylish and forgiving. For women with bigger foreheads, the secret is a few loose tendril near the face.
The soft pieces are a nice way to break up the space of the forehead and add some romance without trying too hard.
It’s ideal for casual days, but can be accessorized to look more fancy in the evening.
17- Low Ponytail with Side Bangs
A low pony is always a super chic, classic look and with side bangs, it’s just downright lovely.
The bangs frame the forehead, and a low ponytail creates a long neck and sectioned proportions.
I adore this style for work or fancy settings — it’s chic, is all in place and looks neat. It also plays with a lot more hair types, so it’s bleeding versatile for use in shorthand styling.
18- Half-Up, Half-Down with Fringe
The half-up, half-down style is fun and fashionable and makes for aesthetic sense when dressed up with bangs or fringe as a way to balance out that big forehead.
“It’s a very formal way of wearing it down, but the volume at the top and letting it all hang out makes you seem open to anything.” I’d suggest this style for a party, wedding or date night — it’s pretty, youthful and easy.
19- Braided Crown with Curtain Bangs
The braided crown is a bohemian, romantic style we’re seeing all over the place in 2025. I also love wearing it with curtain bangs because the braids are pulling your eyes up while the curls of the bangs emphasize and frame the forehead.”
This style is perfect to wear to special occasions or festivals when you want something that will stand out and look flattering. It’s also a fun new way to braid, and a interesting alternative to the simply three-strand down-the-back one.
20- High Pony with Wispy Bangs
A high ponytail is athletic, chic, and youthful, yet for women who have big foreheads I’m all about adding wispy bangs.
The bangs soften the silhouette and stabilize it, while the high pony creates that long, beautiful lengthening and shows off your whole face. This is one of my go-to everyday suggestions, because it’s fast and stylish, and goes well with both gym and nightlife.
Final Thoughts
As a hairdresser, my number one tip would be this – don’t cover, bring out your features. A larger forehead can actually be quite striking and chic, and with the right haircut or styling technique, you can let your best features shine (and also create that balanced look you’re going for).
In 2025, hair trends are all about softness, movement and natural texture —so this is the right attitude to try a style that flatters your forehead but stays on trend.
